I have a confession. I only married you because my hands are too small to open pickle jars.

Helen Thinks: ‘Kosher Dill’ by Aurette is the one shot that answers the question of what makes a couple decide they are right for each other. Of course, it’s not going to be the same for every couple but for this couple their reason is pickles. That’s right, pickles. With her small hands, Diane; our female main character; couldn’t open her pickle jars but Lawrence; her husband; could so therefore he could keep her in pickles. Delivered in the form of a letter, Aurette has written a story that has light humour throughout that keeps the reader hooked from the very first word. The details of their life together written in Diane’s perspective creates a picture that shows the reader that this couple most definitely are in love, even if the idea of spending forever with someone was a terrifying notion. It is a quick read that will leave you smiling for hours, especially with Lawrence’s extremely cute response at the end that; without sounding extremely sexist; is exactly how I would imagine a male character responding to such a heartfelt confession. It will leave you wondering exactly what reason you'll marry for...
